In case of an emergency, ACE safety shock absorbers in driving simulation capsules ensure the protection of man and machine
The aim was to protect a driving simulation capsule on two of its eight axes. The demands placed on a potential emergency stopper were high because it was clear that its failure would lead to massive damage to the complete construction as well as to the capsule. Even the possibility of damage to the health of the test personnel could not be ruled out and was taken into consideration in a diverse range of mass-speed combinations. Two ACE safety shock absorbers from ACE's product family SDH38 to SDH63 now safely contain destructive forces, e.g. during power outages, and eliminate high risks.
Matching Applications
Industrial Shock Absorbers - MC33 to MC64
Opening and closing system for heavy barriers Industrial shock absorbers MAGNUM MC64150 from ACE are integrated into the overall safety design for the Amsterdam metro system. In contrast to previous solutions, they ensure rapid opening and stopping for a five-ton barrier located at the end of an emergency escape route. In this application, over 5,100 Nm of energy are able to be absorbed per stroke. Through installing shock absorbers in end positions of the design, over 63,700 kg of effective weight are able to be absorbed. ACE provided an excellent solution, even with an impact speed of approximately 1.8 meters per second and the barrier exit grille at an unusual impact angle.
Industrial Shock Absorbers - MA/ML33 to MA/ML64
Rotating and pivoting systems for large telescopes ACE industrial shock absorbers offer safety to spare for swiveling or braking of large telescope. The optical system of this telescope for special observations is moveable in two space coordinates. The structure in which the telescope is mounted weighs 15,000 kg and consists of a turntable with drives and two wheel disks rotating on bearings. It enables a rotation by ±90° from horizon to horizon. To safeguard the telescope in case of overshooting the respective swiveling limits, industrial shock absorbers ML3325 from ACE are used as braking elements. Should the telescope inadvertently overshoot the permissible swivel range, they will safely damp the travel of the valuable telescope.
Miniature Shock Absorbers - MC150 to MC600
Brake components for swinging flags In the case of driving safety training, swinging flags are used to simulate the sudden appearance of obstacles. If the driver reacts too slowly, the flags swing back just as quickly to prevent damage to the vehicle. In order to protect the end positions of this safety system during to and fro motion, ACE miniature shock absorbers from the MC150 to MC225 product family are installed. In this application they come with a special side load adapter for use in this situation. Among other things, this improves the ability of the shock absorber to absorb lateral forces during back and forth motion.
Industrial Shock Absorbers - MA/ML33 to MA/ML64
Impact protection for accident simulators The Central-Hessian police department has developed an accident simulator with the help of ACE aimed at significantly increasing the number of road traffic seatbelt wearers. The mobile simulator demonstrates strikingly that the smallest impact velocities lead to enormous forces, even when wearing seat belts, and can cause serious injuries when not. ACE's MA64150 adjustable industrial shock absorbers are installed to protect the simulator passengers and the end points of the construction at various speeds and moving masses. This is the largest adjustable damper in the MAGNUM MA33 to MA64 product family. Stronger special constructions are possible at any time.
Profile Dampers - TUBUS TR
Transport protection for electronic racks and cases High-quality audio and video technology literally have a high turnover rate in lorries during transport. Well-cushioned shipping crates are necessary in order that the high-quality equipment is not damaged and that work can begin immediately at any location in the world. To eliminate, in particular, the damaging vertical impetuses due to impacts and falling, the video production company relies on radially-cushioning TUBUS TR67-40 profile dampers. Their radial loading enables very long and soft braking operations, which prevent the destructive mass forces from being applied to the equipment, even if the crates fall.
Hydraulic Dampers - HB-12 to HB-70
Opening and closing mechanisms for container flaps In the past, operators of used-clothes containers could sustain injury because the flaps closed relatively quickly and uncontrollably. Various HB-15 hydraulic dampers from ACE, which are designed specifically for the type of container, regulate the synchronization of the flap in both directions and thereby serve to regulate the operating speed. To accommodate a range of requirements and to provide optimal protection against theft, different types with different strokes are mounted on flaps without damping, on large flaps with damping and on rotor flaps with damping.
Hydraulic Dampers - HB-12 to HB-70
Motion damping for cable car cabins and gondolas Passengers always feel the swinging movement involved when cable cars arrive at the ski station. Maintenance-free HB-40 hydraulic dampers from ACE cushion these movements perfectly. Constructions of the cable cars, connected by means of an articulated joint via a four-point frame and connection guide to the suspension rod, profit from the ability of the adjustable dampers to absorb compressive forces of up to 10,000 N on either side.
